What does circularity actually look like in practice?

At Clerkenwell Design Week, Nigel Boreham joined The Circular Hub UK, Ahrend and fellow panellists for an open conversation on the realities of reuse and reaching net zero.

From rethinking how we use existing assets to the role of storage in making reuse logistically viable, the discussion focused on making circularity more accessible in practice. Time, planning and transparency all play a part, along with being clear with clients about what to expect and what a refreshed space built on reuse can look like.

A key theme was responsibility. Holding each other accountable while setting realistic goals, ensuring every decision is considered and transparent. Where reuse isn’t possible, the right approach allows materials to be repurposed, donated, or given a second life – never ending in landfill.

Circularity is still evolving. It’s not always straightforward, but there is real value in doing it properly and in sharing what works, and what doesn’t, along the way.

Thanks to everyone who came along and got involved, including host Ren DeCherney, and fellow panellists Joanne Casselle, Richard Jamison, Dionne Ewen and Joanna Knight.
